need a break

from windsurfing. I have friends who practice the same sport all year round and I always tell them they should take a break as using the same muscles all the time isn't good for your body, one should mix it up. It appears to be time to take my own best advice. Damn, the wind never stops blowing in Jericoacoara. Really, it does stop from about 3am to 8am, haha, then the bedroom gets a bit hot. 2 days ago we did a downwinder from Jeri to Tatajuba; 30k. Mike H, Yolane, and Lubo on kites and me on my favorite Maui Projects 65L board with a 4.0 sail. Wow, it was fun. We found small waves on the way. We had a buggy follow us down so we could stop for water and snacks, but no restaurants or caipirinhas. In Tatajuba we had more snacks and beer, a bit of a shower and then the over one hour buggy ride into the wind/sand back, saw some horses mating in the red-hot sunset. My hands were claw like and extremely sore as was my whole upper body. But yesterday there were some decent waves and it was blowing hard. So I had to go out with the 3.4 and catch some waves even though I was sooo tired. Today I am taking a day off, no wsurfing, no kiting, no long walks. Nada. i have another 2 weeks here so i need to pace. Unless the waves get bigger than 5 ft...

First post from Jericoacoara

Hello to all and my best wished that your are happy and healthy. I have been procrastinating writing this travel log email. Mainly cause this is my 6th trip to Jericoacoara and I didn't want to bore you all with the same news: Sun, wind, waves (better than ever this year), friends, etc. this year I rented an apartment. I love it. I have a sea view. In fact from the small balcony I can see the windsurf action and from the bathroom I can see my favorite beach, Praia da Malhada, the other windsurf beach. The other news is this year my boyfriend, Lubo has come also. Jeri is my heaven on earth, truly. Oh, and i am trying to learn to kite surf, haha. I started last summer in the Gorge and have been out a few times here. I am NOT experiencing the steep learning curve which all speak about. But of course i am trying to learn in 2 extremely windy places. Last week hurt my ribs, very sore. I accidentally boosted approximately 12 ft up and 20 ft across. OUCH! Life in paradise isn't always perfect. I am creating a blog! I will post more photos there. Welcome to my blog. http://patlozowski.blogspot.com/ I am also on Facebook, , Patricia Barnhart-Lozowski, friend me, please.

hugs for all
